Mommy's Bragging Rights - Little Bear's Word List

Yesterday was a rainy, dreary day here.  While Little Bear and I were eating lunch, we were watching the rain and I was explaining to him that rain is water falling from the sky.  All of a sudden he pointed up and said "sky."  I was totally shocked that he made this connection and then communicated it to me.

I probably shouldn't be so shocked.  Although Little Bear is only 15 months, he has a very impressive vocabulary and most toddlers can understand a lot more than we may think.  Because I am so proud of him, I thought that it would be fun to compile a list of all of the words that he can say (and understand) as of now.

Trust me, as a teacher I know that there is so much more to learning than simply intelligence.  Little Bear is lucky in that he gets excellent exposure to language and reading and I know that these have contributed to his current vocabulary, probably more than anything else.  All children reach milestones at different points.  While Little Bear has an excellent vocabulary, he is average or behind in other areas, so trust me, he is not a genius and I don't want to pretend that he is!

I do recognize that as his mommy I am biased in how great I think that he is, but every mom deserves bragging rights once in awhile!  So today it's my turn!  :o)
